  5. This file documents which electronic distribution files are required to 
  6. incrementally patch all English-language versions of AutoCAD Release 13 
  7. for PCs from C4 to the C4a level.  
  8.  
  9. The following is a list of the self extracting PKSFX archive files posted
  10. to this electronic download area.  The distribution files are based upon
  11. the R13c4a incremental patch diskettes.  The files are divided by 
  12. platform (DOS vs. Windows), shared and locked versus unlocked.  
  13.  
  14. See the installation instructions below for proper patch installation 
  15. instructions.

  58. RELEASE 13C4A INCREMENTAL PATCH INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
  59. ======================================================
  60.  
  61. The R13c4a_c4 patch must be installed after proper installation of
  62. release R13c4. The R13c4a_c4 patch works with all English-language 
  63. versions of AutoCAD Release 13c4. No new authorization codes are
  64. required, and the serial number and personalization information of the
  65. installed copy of AutoCAD is retained.
  66.  
  67. - Create a directory on your computer to contain the self extracting 
  68.   PKSFX archive files (i.e.; c:\patch).  
  69.  
  70. - Download the self extracting PKSFX archive files to the previously
  71.   created directory on your computer's hard drive.  
  72.  
  73.   NOTE: Autodesk recommends that you DO NOT place the patch files
  74.         in the directory containing ACAD.EXE (i.e., c:\r13\win).
  75.  
  76. - From the MS-DOS prompt, change from the current directory to 
  77.   the directory where the self extracting PKSFX archive files 
  78.   (i.e.; type in cd\patch).
  79.  
  80. - Extract the R13c4a incremental patch files by typing in the name
  81.   of each downloaded file at the command prompt (i.e.; c4amfu1)
  82.  
  83. - Once the files are extracted, run the incremental patch routine 
  84.   as documented below or outlined in the C4AINST.TXT file supplied 
  85.   with this update.  
  86.  
  87.   NOTE: Should you extract the patch files to floppy, please note 
  88.         that customers updating AutoCAD Release 13c4 for Windows
  89.         (Windows 3.1x, Windows NT, or Windows 95) to the c4a version
  90.         will not be prompted for DISK#3.  Those updating AutoCAD 
  91.         Release 13c4 for DOS to the c4a version will not be prompted 
  92.         for DISK#2.

  111.     AutoCAD R13c4 for Windows program files are located 
  112.         in the C:\R13\WIN directory
  113.     The Incremental Patch contents are in a directory on your
  114.         hard disk drive named C:\PATCH
  115.     You are updating an UNLOCKED AutoCAD R13c4 for Windows 
  116.         to R13c4a
  117.  
  118. A) From the MS-DOS prompt, change from the current directory to 
  119.    the directory where the AutoCAD(R) Release 13_c4 for Windows 
  120.    file ACAD.EXE is located (i.e.; type in cd\R13\WIN and 
  121.    press enter).

  123. B) From the C:\R13\WIN directory prompt type:
  124.     c:\patch\wininst c:\patch c:\r13\com /U
  125.  
  126. C) The patch utility will begin updating your AutoCAD R13c4 to the
  127.    c4a level. Any errors encountered by the patch utility will be 
  128.    written to a log file named (C4APATCH.LOG). The log file will 
  129.    be written to the parent of the current directory (i.e.; C:\R13).   
  130.    If errors are encountered during the patch process, error 
  131.    messages on this display may be difficult to interpret. Please
  132.    review the patch log when this program terminates.
